residential soil test
Before any digging or construction work begins on your new home build or renovation (extension), it’s required to get a soil test report. In fact, most engineers will require a test in order to determine the correct footing design suitable for the existing soil profile and their engineering properties. A residential soil test is quite a straightforward process and involves the drilling boreholes on the site either by a mechanical drill rig, by direct push probe or hand auger if access is restricted. The soil from the drill holes is tested at varying depths to determine the soil composition and bearing capacity of each stratum.
Land Capability Assessment
In most of s regional residential areas, no centralised sewerage systems are available. For all new unsewered residential developments, a comprehensive land assessment ir required by the council prior to residential development proceeding. The overall objective of the land assessment includes, assessing the capability of the site to sustainably manage wastewater within allotment boundaries; and identifying a management program that should be put in place to minimise the health and environmental impacts of on-site wastewater management.
Erosion and Sediment Control Assessment
In several councils with geographic zones with potential soil erosion, Erosion and Sediment Control should be implemented when an activity could involve disturbance of earth, placing fill on the soil surface, and changes to the contours of the land, or change in the rate and volume of stormwater runoff flowing over land, and directly or indirectly entering receiving waters. In order to understand the level of assessment required a risk-based assessment is undertaken and erosion management measures should be introduced.
